Eve Unveiled

On Monday 7th December Virgin Galactic unveiled SpaceShipTwo to the world at Mojave Spaceport, California. 800 press, future astronauts and VIP guests gathered in the desert for a press conference and to view the roll out of the world’s first commercial spaceline.

The project, with a US$450 million (RM1.5 billion) budget, would see the construction of six commercial spaceships that would take pessengers high enough to achieve weightlessness and see the curvature of Earth set against the backdrop of space.  A twin-hulled aircraft would carry SpaceShipTwo to an altitude of about 18,288m before releasing it. The spaceship would then fire its onboard rockets engines, climbing to about 104km above Earth. The trip would take about 2 1/2 hours, with passengers experiencing about five minutes of weightlessnes.

Barcelona’s Messi wins Ballon d’Or!

December 1, 2009 at 11:37 AM (Sports Moments!)

Lionel Messi: On top of the world

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has won the 2009  Ballon d’Or.

The 22-year old bettered his second-place finish last year and his third-place in 2007 and became the youngest player to take out the award since Micheal Owen won as a 21-year old in 2001. In the 2008/09 season, Messi helped his club win the Champions League, the Spanish La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercup as well as winning a host of individual awards.

Furthermore, Messi has won by the greatest margin ever recorded in the history of this venerable competition. Out of a possible 480 points, Lionel scored 473 – a new record, and far ahead of the man in second place, namely last year’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese managed 233 points.

Messi, who will be presented with his award on Sunday evening at a gala event in Paris, becomes the first registered Argentine to win the Ballon d’Or since its creation. Buenos Aires-born Juventus legend Omar Sivori triumphed in 1961, but at the time he was a registered Italian.

Unboxing BlackBerry Curve 8520!

November 23, 2009 at 6:11 AM (Machines!)

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 box.

I got my BlackBerry Curve 8520 and it is time to unpack it. In the box, you will find the usual things, phone+battery+charger+earplugs+USB cable+manual and CD. Upon picking up the BlackBerry 8520, we immediately noticed how light it is (106g or 3.74oz).

BlackBerry Curve 8520 unboxing, first impressions!

Upon booting, you will find the newer user interface introduced with the BlackBerry bold, although running at a lower resolution (320×240). The user interface is OK, but reading text or webpages is definitely not as nice when compared to a Bold, 8900 or more recent BlackBerry phones.

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Celcom set.

The trackball present in the 8320 has been replaced with a trackpad. I guess that it is more durable and possible less expensive to integrate. I thought that it was ok, although I still prefer the trackball to navigate the icons but I bet that scrolling a page in the web browser is better with the trackpad.

Media buttons at the top.

One of the novelties is the media buttons at the top (play/pause/mute + forward + reverse). They might come in handy if you are running and want to control the music playback without taking the phone out of its holster.

Celcom’s EDGE connection.

Overall, physically Blackberry Curve 8520 is a one beauty smart phone with slightly cheap built. But it was compensated with awesome Blackberry service. What would you expect from Celcom’s EDGE connection and does it fast enough and sufficient to get you online??

BlackBerry Curve 8520 Celcom package.

Exciting BlackBerry Curve 8520 Celcom set deals you can’t refuse!
